Financial modelling is an essential skill for those working on investment projects or advisory roles in areas such as venture capital, M&A, real estate, project finance or private equity.
It is increasingly common for the key players in this sector to require job applicants to have proficiency in financial modelling as part of their skill-set.
The modex® pe exams are designed and marked entirely by professionals currently working in private equity, through a rigorous scoring system to ensure that all the exams are fair and accurate.
This pack includes three tests and the comparison of your results against our database:
- Two private equity mock modex® with the solution to help you prepare for a interview.
- One modex® private equity test. The real one, the one that separates you from the crowd (live and monitored). For this exam, you will choose a suitable date upon purchase.

Where does the exam take place?
The exam is done remotely. You need the following : 1) Computer with excel installed 2) Computer with camera 3) Reasonable Wi-fi 4) Zoom.us installed (to monitor the exam) 5) An ID with your name and photo.

Is there any official recognition?
Absolutely, the modex® results are certified by EFFAS (European federation of financial analysts societies) Please note that to get certified there is a minimum passing grade of 50%.

How long is the exam?
You have two hours to complete the test. After 120 minutes, the test will close automatically.

Is the test in excel?
Absolutely, you will be given an excel spreadsheet to do your workings, and then you will provide the relevant answer using our online questionnaire. This is the main part of the exam, although we will also include some conceptual questions which do not involve any excel calculation.

Is the exam a case study?
Not really, the test is made up of different short questions, where we measure specific concepts. For example, you may have a short exercise related to inventory, and another where we assess if you can calculate the EBITDA.

How long will it take to get the results?
The results are immediate, but we allow 24 hours to ensure that your workings are in place in the excel file (i.e. you did not guess the correct answer)

How many questions are included?
Typically the tests include 20/25 questions, 10/15 are excel based, and 10 conceptual (related to the specific sector, but without the need to perform calculations)

Will you give me the solution and my mistakes?
In the mock-up tests yes, you can have the solution, and you will be able to see your errors; however, for the real monitored modex test, we will not give you the solution. You will be able to see your result in areas of knowledge, but not question specific.

How many attempts do I have?
You are purchasing the right to take one test. You can take it as many times as you like, but you will have to pay for each attempt.
